Gavin's First Piano Recital

It's been a busy week for us. Wednesday night Gavin and Connor had a baseball game which we had to leave a little early in order to get to Gavin's piano recital on time. Then we had our walk-through on our house on Thursday and moved in on Friday and Saturday. It's been good to be busy though so we haven't had to just sit and go stir crazy waiting for our house to be finished. Gavin did a really great job. He was a little (okay maybe a LOT) nervous so he accidently played his song an octave too low. He was also supposed to bow after his song, but said he was too nervous to do that too. We told him that's okay that we're so proud of him for memorizing his song and getting up there to play in front of everyone. The picture is of Gavin and his good neighbor buddy, Jarom. Jarom's mom teaches Gavin piano and I teach Jarom violin so it's free for both of us...I love it when things work out that way. Free is always good!

Baseball Games

We've been spending a lot of time at baseball games lately. We had such crazy weather this spring that two of the kids' games were canceled and had to be rescheduled because of the snow...snow into May! We love watching the kids play. They're gaining more confidence, getting better at hitting the ball, starting to understand the rules of the game and where to throw the ball when, and just having a lot of fun out there.
(On a side-note: While I was busy taking pictures of Connor up to bat, I totally didn't notice until later when I looked at these pictures that Aidan is in the background just sitting on some little girl's lap! Guess he was busy socializing while his brothers played ball! Ha!)

Here's Aidan smiling so hard his eyes got squished shut. Aidan really loves to be outside.

Swimming

We love when the weather is warm enough to play outside and swim.

Aidan didn't want his picture taken, so here he is shouting "Nooooo!" at me.

Aidan Singing

I forgot about this little jewel of a video that we took on our road-trip to Idaho for Connor's birthday. Aidan likes to sing and to be sung to...but only when the moment is right! If he doesn't want to be sung to...he let's you know! But, it's so cute how he tries to shush everyone that, of course, we have to keep singing just to bug him!

House Update

Good news...despite a few setbacks and mistakes on the house, we're still set to have the house done on the 22nd and ready for a walk-through on the 23rd. Yea! I was getting worried because they put a wall where there should be railing on the stairs, forgot about a window seat and put the wrong texture on the walls and also square corners instead of the round ones all of which had to be fixed and set the house back on its date to be finished. It's really nerve-racking to deal with given that we have to close on the house by the end of the month or we won't qualify for the $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers. It's been an exciting, but stressful journey so far. I'm so excited to move in and get those keys to our very first house! At the same time, there have been so many details to deal with and phone calls and paperwork that it's been a little bit difficult to just sit back and enjoy the journey. I know it'll all be okay in the end, it's just hanging in there until we get there!

Toddlers!

Connor was taking videos on his camera the other day, and I thought it demonstrated very well what it's like having a toddler in the house!
In the first video Aidan's happy and content...
When he's done being videotaped...he's not shy about letting you know his feelings on the matter! That's toddlers for you...cute as a button and snuggly one minute, then in the blink of an eye they'll turn on you and scream and yell and make a fuss only to snuggle up to you a minute later! Gotta love it!

He's saying "stop iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!"
