Seven Months Old!

Yep, that's right! Our little baby is already seven-months-old! We're having so much fun with Aidan. He finally got his first tooth, he's sitting up on his own and rolling over and scooting around in circles (no crawling yet) and trying to play with his big brothers. Gavin and Connor love him so much, and the feeling is definitely mutual on Aidan's part. Aidan's such a quiet baby most of the time, but he does say ba, ba, ba, ba...sometimes. And, on occasion, he has been known to say "Mama" but only if he's really mad that no one has picked him up yet, and he wants us to know he means business!

A Funny Thing About Aidan...

So, a funny thing about Aidan is that if you want him to smile, all you have to do is sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." He LOVES it. That's the song Connor likes to hear before bed, so I think Aidan must have gotten used to hearing it while still in the womb! He's always loved that song...even as a newborn it settled him down.
On a side-note: if you click on the picture you can see that Aidan finally got his first tooth! (Just disregard the bit of leftover cookie on his forehead that Mommy missed washing off of him in the bath!)

New Job Charts

I made some new job charts for the boys to help them be responsible for "the basics" every day...I took pictures of them brushing their teeth, getting dressed, making their beds, putting their toys away and then brushing/flossing before bed, then I laminated the pictures and stuck velcro on them. At the end of the day, when they get these 5 things done, they get 10 cents to put in their piggy bank. So far their they're pretty excited about it (I hope it lasts!) It helps me out a lot when they pitch in by cleaning up after themselves every day so then I don't get quite so overwhelmed by all the clutter. Don't they look so cute posing for their job pictures?!

A Squeeky Clean Belly Button...

So...I think I must be the silliest Mom in the history of the world...let me explain...I was giving Aidan a bath last Thursday when I decided to clean out his belly button when I noticed that there was something stuck in there...that's when I remembered that at one of his newborn check-ups the doctor had mentioned that part of his umbilical cord had not fallen off yet, but should and if it didn't to let him know so he could remove it. Well, I hadn't thought about Aidan's little button for a while, so when I saw this I thought I'd better take him to the doctor's. The next day we went in, and the doctor got a Q-tip out and cleaned it and there was nothing in there but normal crustys...it took him about 10 seconds to get it all taken care of and look and me and ask (and not rudely, he was very polite about it) "Do you have any other questions?" I don't know how he kept a straight face! I tried to think of something else for him to check to make it worth our visit, but I drew a blank! I was so embarassed, but he was so nice about it and said it made sense to follow-up since he did make that comment a while back about his umbilical cord. So, now Aidan has the cleanest belly button around!

"What was Mommy thinking?"

Teething Troubles...

Poor baby Aidan is teething...our normally happy, easy-going baby hasn't been very happy lately...those teeth coming in really hurt! Luckily, they're almost through his gums so hopefully he'll start feeling better soon!

Aidan's been so tired lately too...it's a lot of work getting teeth!

First Day of Preschool...

Today was Connor's first day of Preschool (ever) and Gavin's first day of Preschool (for the school year). Last year, Gavin went to Miss Jaime's Preschool and loved it. She has a little preschool out of her basement, and she does a really great job teaching the kids. This year, Gavin is excited to be returning, and Connor is excited to get a chance to go too. I was worried that Connor might be a little scared for me to leave, but Gavin was there to help him, and they both had so much fun. They hardly noticed when I left or came back to pick them up. It's so weird to have them both gone for two hours during the day (Mon, Wed & Fri anyway)...what will I do with all the down-time?? I'm sure I'll think of something!

My mom and Cheryl bought matching backpacks for them (they're so excited to have new backpacks!) Yesterday, we made up some nametags for them so they don't get mixed up. Don't they look so handsome and grown up?

Labor Day Weekend

We were planning on camping out in Jason's Parent's backyard for the holiday weekend...my kids love tents! But...it was cold and windy and raining...not the best for sleeping in tents, so we did the next best thing...(and by "we" I mean Jason and his dad!) Jason and his dad set up this really cool fort in the front room for the boys to sleep in instead. They LOVED it! The only problem...we didn't specify which was the exit and which was the entry, so they kept running circles through the fort and literally bumping heads. Connor had two good-sized bumps and bruises on his forehead before they went to bed! They still had a blast and were both very sad to see us take it down the next day.

Baby Aidan is Getting so Big...

Ahhh, it passes too quickly, doesn't it...this first year where they're so little and snuggly...well, Aidan's still snuggly, but he's growing so fast and definitely not a newborn anymore (sigh). Soon he'll be crawling around and be more of a wiggly little snuggle-bug! It's so much fun to see all the new things he's learning, but I can't help but miss having him wrap up so tight and small in my arms!

Look How Our Garden has Grown...

When we got back from California, our garden had grown quite a bit, so we got busy picking the green beans, peas, zuccini and cucumbers. The tomatoes and corn are almost ready. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the corn, pretending like it was their house. I remember doing that when I was a kid...ah, memories...

This sign in our garden says, "Free Weeds (you pick 'em!)"

Yes, I actually picked and snapped and canned quite a few green beans from our garden with some help from Jason's mom. Who'd have thought growing a garden and canning could be so much fun! Jason's mom and I visited while we picked and snapped the beans and canned them. Now I have about 50 jars of yummy fresh garden green beans for the winter, and there are still more green beans coming in that we'll can for Jason's mom.
