A Little Game of "Name that Baby!"

Now that we have three boys, I thought it would be fun to put pictures of all three of them around the same age and have everyone play a guessing game of who's who! Don't cheat and look at the date! (My computer with photoshop on it isn't working right now or I'd take the date off.) Click on the comments to see the answers...

All Dressed Up for a Party...

This is Gavin's second year in a row being a Police Officer...he loves walking around, blowing his whistle and asking me, "Is everything alright, Mam?" He's so funny. He says he wants to be a Police Officer when he grows up.

Connor really loves trains right now (like most three-year-old boys!) He was really excited to wear this costume and blow his little train whistle.

Aidan is the only baby I've had that has actually let me put the little paw/gloves on and kept them on! It was so great. He was a great sport.

The boys were making the funniest faces while I was trying to take their picture...I'm just glad I got some where they're all facing the camera! With three little boys, what more could I ask for!

Little Lion

I love this little lion costume with the little gloves/paws...all three boys have gotten use out of it when they were this age!

You can see that Aidan really wants to crawl...he's just not quite there yet. But, in the mean time, he's having fun scooting around with his little "army crawl." He's pretty fast at it too when he sees something he wants!

Just call me "Destructo-Baby!"

Gavin and Connor have been busy playing with their train tracks a lot lately. They work so hard to get the tracks just right when along comes little brother, and WHAM he attacks the tracks. Aidan loves to break apart the tracks and steal the trains as they come along. Gavin and Connor usually ask me to take Aidan off of the tracks, but now that Aidan can just crawl right back over there...it doesn't do a whole lot of good to move him away!

But, who couldn't love this cute innocent little face?!

I've Been Tagged...

Thanks for the tag, Melinda. I've never been tagged before, so this is fun...now I have to think about some random/weird facts about me...hmmmmm....

And, here are the rules for those of you who get tagged by me...wha-ha-ha-ha...

1. Okay, I know this is so bad, but I think it's hilarious when the kids fart/burp/hiccup, etc at the wrong moment. I have such a hard time not laughing. The worst is during family prayer if one of the kids accidentally let one rip, it seems like the harder I try not to laugh, the more I laugh, and the kids end up trying not to laugh too. Jason's great at not giving in except to smile a little and just shake his head! I don't know why it's funny, it just is.

2. I don't know how many of you know this about me but I can parlez francais...I went to France on a High School trip once, and it was awesome. Of course, the French pretty much hate us now and the feeling used to be mutual for Americans at the start of the war (remember the whole "Freedom Fries" thing...maybe it's just me!), but I'm not saying I wouldn't go there again!...if I had the money to, of course!

3. I love to scrapbook but can't stand making cards...I can never get the stamps to work right...Okay, I know a lot of you out there are thinking...it's just not that difficult to stamp, but for me I just can't do it (which just makes me appreciate all the more those of you out there that can!)...I must not have steady hands or something...which leads me to the next weird quirk...

4. I am the worst at cutting things without also cutting myself (see the old post about the stitches in my thumb for proof!) Whenever Jason sees me with a knife cutting up dinner, he gets nervous. I told him, hey if I never cut anything, you'd never eat. But, I don't know what it is...I just get distracted a lot or something because I do end up accidentally cutting myself quite a bit. I guess I didn't pay enough attention in girls-scouts to learn how to properly use a knife! Whenever Jason hears a loud "Dang it!" coming from the kitchen...he knows! Maybe I should switch to scissors...hmmmmm....

5. I love snow, but not wind...which puts a damper on things when you live in one of the windiest parts of Idaho. The only time I like the wind is during a thunder-storm. Those I LOVE! Which we also happen to get quite a lot of over here. The kind of wind I'm talking about that I could really just do without is the whole wind/snow combination...you know, the kind that freezes your nose and ears just in the time it took you to carefully run across the ice to your car! Yeah, that kind. I love taking the kids to play out in the snow on those nice sunny days, but once Christmas and New Years has come and gone, I'm definitely ready for the snow to melt.

6. And, speaking of snow...here are a few things I love about winter. I love the excuse for a nice hot bath or hot chocolate. I love sitting snug and warm inside my house just watching the snow fall outside. And, I love all the wintery dress...you know the scarves, hats, gloves, etc. They're so much fun. I love bundling up my kids until they "can't put their arms down!" (For those of you out there who are A Christmas Story movie fans like I am!)

7. I snort when I laugh real hard! Yep, that's right. For those of you who know me well, you know it's true! I can't help it...my sister has the same laugh...which just gets us laughing harder, and my kids snort sometimes when they laugh real hard too. What can you do? It's just something crazy about us...which just makes it that much harder to stay reverent when we hear a funny noise during family prayer!

Alright, out there...here's who's next! I'm going to tag...

A New Way to Sing "Rock-a-Bye-Baby"

So, as I was rocking Aidan to sleep today, I realized that I should share this version of "Rock-a-Bye-Baby" that I made up when Gavin was a baby. I just couldn't bear to sing a song about a cradle crashing to the ground when singing to my sweet little baby, so I made up some new lyrics, and I still use it to sing to my other kids. I just substitute their names in there, and they love having a song sung to them that's all personalized including their name...Gavin and Connor still sit on my lap and request this song once in a while! Feel free to use it with your own little ones...Here's how it goes:
"Rock-a-Bye, Aidan
Mama's got you.
You are so cute
And little too.
Now it's time
To go to sleep,
And all through the night
My love you'll keep."

The Kids Playing & Aidan Doing the Army Crawl!

Aidan playing with a toy microwave. Hey, if it's got buttons...he loves it!

Okay, I know this is so bad, but my kids love video games, and I sometimes lose track of how long they've been playing because they're playing so quietly and so well together! I've got to start setting a timer!

Aidan doing his army crawl...it's so cute! But also dangerous now that he can get around...I found the remains of a piece of an M&M wrapper in his diaper if you know what I mean...still intact...went straight through! So, two things I need to work on now, getting the big kids to throw their garbage in the garbage (not just by the garbage!), and watching where Aidan is going! It's fun to see him get around though.

One Last Trip to the Zoo before Winter...

My cousin, Elaine, and her husband were visiting in Pocatello and drove an hour to meet us at the zoo! I hadn't seen Elaine for a long time, a really long time...can't remember the last time...
It was really great to see her, and we had a nice visit while the kids played.

Gavin & Connor playing in the playground area pretending to hatch from an egg.

Aidan...just along for the ride!

I think the kids were more excited just to be outside running around than they were about the animals, but that's okay...I'll let them enjoy it while it lasts, before the snow comes. They're already excited about the snow, by the way. I think it's because they know it means the holidays are getting closer!

Seven Months Old!

Yep, that's right! Our little baby is already seven-months-old! We're having so much fun with Aidan. He finally got his first tooth, he's sitting up on his own and rolling over and scooting around in circles (no crawling yet) and trying to play with his big brothers. Gavin and Connor love him so much, and the feeling is definitely mutual on Aidan's part. Aidan's such a quiet baby most of the time, but he does say ba, ba, ba, ba...sometimes. And, on occasion, he has been known to say "Mama" but only if he's really mad that no one has picked him up yet, and he wants us to know he means business!

A Funny Thing About Aidan...

So, a funny thing about Aidan is that if you want him to smile, all you have to do is sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." He LOVES it. That's the song Connor likes to hear before bed, so I think Aidan must have gotten used to hearing it while still in the womb! He's always loved that song...even as a newborn it settled him down.
On a side-note: if you click on the picture you can see that Aidan finally got his first tooth! (Just disregard the bit of leftover cookie on his forehead that Mommy missed washing off of him in the bath!)

New Job Charts

I made some new job charts for the boys to help them be responsible for "the basics" every day...I took pictures of them brushing their teeth, getting dressed, making their beds, putting their toys away and then brushing/flossing before bed, then I laminated the pictures and stuck velcro on them. At the end of the day, when they get these 5 things done, they get 10 cents to put in their piggy bank. So far their they're pretty excited about it (I hope it lasts!) It helps me out a lot when they pitch in by cleaning up after themselves every day so then I don't get quite so overwhelmed by all the clutter. Don't they look so cute posing for their job pictures?!

A Squeeky Clean Belly Button...

So...I think I must be the silliest Mom in the history of the world...let me explain...I was giving Aidan a bath last Thursday when I decided to clean out his belly button when I noticed that there was something stuck in there...that's when I remembered that at one of his newborn check-ups the doctor had mentioned that part of his umbilical cord had not fallen off yet, but should and if it didn't to let him know so he could remove it. Well, I hadn't thought about Aidan's little button for a while, so when I saw this I thought I'd better take him to the doctor's. The next day we went in, and the doctor got a Q-tip out and cleaned it and there was nothing in there but normal crustys...it took him about 10 seconds to get it all taken care of and look and me and ask (and not rudely, he was very polite about it) "Do you have any other questions?" I don't know how he kept a straight face! I tried to think of something else for him to check to make it worth our visit, but I drew a blank! I was so embarassed, but he was so nice about it and said it made sense to follow-up since he did make that comment a while back about his umbilical cord. So, now Aidan has the cleanest belly button around!

"What was Mommy thinking?"
